Academic Program Manager (HEA)
POSITION DETAILS
The Academic Program Manager will report to the Dean of Division of Humanities and the Arts at The City College of New York. City College's Publishing Certificate Program {PCP) mission is to address the issue of diversity in the publishing industry and its impact on our culture and society by providing students drawn primarily from CCNY's racial, ethnic, national and class range with the necessary knowledge, skills and contacts to enter successfully the publishing field.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Academic Program Manager duties include but are not limited to the following:

Develop schedule of courses and recruit instructors to staff courses for the Publishing Certificate Program throughout the academic year

Provide academic advising for students regarding the requirements of the PCP

Formulate and execute policy for recruitment of students within CCNY, CUNY, the publishing industry and the general population at large

Fundraise within the publishing industry and ancillary businesses

Maintain job bank for current students in need of part-time employment

Operate internship program for students, including mentoring students through the application process Manage the mentoring program with publishing industry employees for students

Oversee the visits of publishing professionals to CCNY to talk about their work in the industry

Maintain major annual events to publicize program

Create application guidelines and select annually the students for awards, as necessary

Work with PCP graduates to secure full-time employment in the publishing field

Supervise part-time support staff
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have an MA or MFA and experience in the publishing industry, as well as experience in career advising.

Manages College's academic internship program which provides career development opportunities and professional work experiences for students.

Develops and administers a comprehensive internship program based on students' field of study

Develops assessment tools to analyze and monitor student career development progress; recommends various enhancements to improve students experiences; and analyzes job market trends to determine solutions in response to market conditions

Administers the on-campus recruiting program for internships; initiates and maintains communications with employer sponsors; and schedules student interviews; creates and leads student career workshops

Provides faculty development related to internships and tracks credit-bearing internships

Collaborates with the other College offices to facilitate student outreach and connection with employers for professional development, internships and job opportunities

Cultivates relationships with alumni, faculty, administration and students to improve and increase internship offerings

May manage professional and/or clerical staff

Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary range: $76,395 - $86,645. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
