Role Overview:
The Brokerage Service Representative Trader is responsible for handling incoming calls, point of call financial processing and placing trades (stocks, options and mutual funds) for the Securities products serviced by NYLIFE Securities. Incoming calls across all our different NYLIFE Securities telephone queues which include the client line, Registered Representative line, and the Trading line consisting of product & account information, investment and account performance, along with margin and trading requests. The margin inquiries include margin requirements, hypothecation agreement, calculating marginable securities, NYSE or House calls and how to resolve. Trading consists of placing client orders and discussing stock option levels & strategies, trading orders and definitions (market, limit, stop/loss, etc.).
Due to the investment element of these securities products, NYLIFE Securities is regulated under the federal securities laws (FINRA), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and state securities laws; therefore, the accounts must be serviced with a Series 7 & 63 License.Working under the direction of the NYLIFE Securities Investor Relations Call Center Manager, the Representative must work to achieve the goals of their team by working both independently and with members of the team in order to provide accurate and efficient service. The Representative will have a fluent understanding of New York Life Securities Product offerings and the systems that support our products in order to perform advanced duties.
What You'll Do:
Answer incoming phone calls from clients, Registered Representatives(RRs), and Field Offices in relation to the Securities (brokerage) products serviced by NYLIFE Securities
Provide up to date information on product specifications, including features like checkwriting and margin, account performance, general tax information (includes discussing cost basis methods and processing changes), account balances, pricing inquiries, and transaction & processing explanations
Process trades from clients on stocks, mutual funds, options, and other asset classes (ex: REITs)
- Maintain high level knowledge of all investment products and services offered through NYLIFE Securities, non-proprietary annuities/life insurance, qualified and non-qualified plans, product features along with regulatory and departmental standards and goals
Display self confidence when working with NYLIFE Securities Registered Representatives to take appropriate action and independently approve exception requests
Have extensive knowledge of the administrative and mainframe systems needed for handling inquiries, researching and processing transactions (including trading platforms Brokerage Exchange and Market Q)
Maintain strong understanding of requirements of regulatory bodies including FINRA, SEC, IRS, etc
Assist team members on a daily basis to complete unfinished work in order to meet Departmental and regulatory standards
Meet Departmental KPI goals on Quality, CallMiner Coach Capabilities, Average Handle Time (AHT), and adherence to phone schedule
Assist Management with projects and stretch assignments
What You'll Bring:
FINRA Series 7 required. Series63 preferred
Associates, or Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent years of related experience
2-4 years of experience
Knowledge of investment and life insurance, SEC, FINRA, IRS guidelines
Expert customer service skills, verbal and written communication
Organized, detailed oriented and ability to multi-task to complete high volumes of work under strict deadlines and compliance times
Experience trading mutual fund, stocks, and options products
Pay Transparency
Salary Range:$35,000-$65,000
Overtime eligible:Nonexempt

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
