ESP Systems Engineer (ALS) - Claremore, OK (Greater Tulsa Area, OK)

Join our team at Baker Hughes as an ESP Systems Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring our Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) systems meet the highest standards of design and quality in critical, high-cost applications.

About the Role:

As an ESP Systems Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including project management, regional technical and sales teams, and directly with customers. Your expertise in ESP systems and component design will be key to ensuring all equipment meets stringent design and quality requirements.

This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with all components of the ESP string-motors, seals, pumps, and motor lead extensions (MLEs). You will be responsible for generating customer-specific designs, supporting manufacturing through assembly and testing, as well as participating in Dismantle, Inspection, and Failure Analysis (DIFA) activities. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will drive the successful creation of equipment, conforming to our customers' specifications.

Key responsibilities of an ESP Systems Engineer:

  • Generate ESP component designs based on QCP, ITP, and application requirements.
  • Conduct design reviews of ESP components and full system assemblies.
  • Develop testing plans relative to customer requirements and execute testing in world class testing facility. Document findings and present to customer.
  • Provide technical support to the shop floor on product design, assembly, testing, and quality requirements for premium equipment.
  • Manage quality notification dispositions for premium components and sub-components in alignment with QCP requirements.
  • Serve as the technical product center contact for regional technical and sales teams regarding premium products.
  • Review and interpret Quality Control Plans and Inspection & Test Plans.
  • Support and participate in Dismantle, Inspection, and Failure Analysis (DIFA) activities, including discussing findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide timely communication on significant issues or developments, including abatement plans.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Artificial Lift and ESP systems experience a plus.
  • Significant experience creating and reviewing drawings, GD&T, material specifications and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
  • Proven ability to understand and communicate complex technical information, including test data, reports, industry standards, and quality control plans.
  • Experience utilizing quality management systems and supporting manufacturing activities.
  • Experience working directly with customers and regional teams to solve challenges, identify failure modes, and develop solutions.
  • Experience with Quality Control Plans (QCPs) and Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs) preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 15551-1 and other relevant ESP industry standards preferred.
