This is a hybrid position with the expectation to be onsite as needed with the customer in the Washington, DC metro area and WMATA headquarters in Alexandria, VA. The GIS Developer will automate GIS workflows, create applications using mobile SDKs, and ensure seamless data synchronization across multiple environments. The role will also involve performing geospatial data calculations, developing, and troubleshooting applications using JavaScript APIs, Mobile SDKs, Google Map Developer API, and Visual Studio, while managing the installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance of GIS systems and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Automate redundant GIS processes and workflows while providing geospatial data calculations such as linear distance, area, and fare.
- Streamline data management and synchronization across various environments.
- Create and enhance applications with new functionality using JavaScript APIs, Mobile SDKs (iOS, Android, .NET), Google Map Developer API, and Visual Studio Professional.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues within applications to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
- Implement new functionality to the system in the form of APIs, pages, modules, reports, etc.
- Support ad hoc data/map requests, geospatial data analysis and reporting requests from both internal and external WMATA users.
- Manage installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance of GIS systems, software, databases, web servers, and infrastructures.
- Track, manage, and update GIS user requests and system enhancements in systems such as Clarity, Jira, Confluence and TestRail.

The following are requirements of the GIS Developer:
- US Citizen.
- 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or 3 years of experience with a Master's degree; or 2 years of experience with a PhD.
- Knowledge of Visual Studio Professional, .Net Framework, IIS, Windows Server.
- Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Spatial Data Extension (SDE Package), ArcPy and ArcGIS Server JavaScript APIs.
- Understanding of Oracle Server, Client, and ODAC 64bit.
- Experience with ArcGIS mobile SDKs (iOS, Android, .NET) and Google Map Developer API.
- Ability to integrate multiple system environments while leveraging scripting languages best practices.
- Strong background in providing geospatial problem solving and technical support.
- Skilled in managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and working both independently and collaboratively, with a passion for location-based problem-solving to support WMATA needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing, and preparing reports and briefs in the English Language.
- Eagerness to learn and apply new technologies across different industries.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with project management tools such a Clarity, Confluence, and Jira.
