Find your superpower with the Graduate Development Program

National Grid's Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we'll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one - putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you'll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

Group Function Rotations

Graduates in our Finance team will take part in a 12-month exploration. Your first 6 months will be in the role outlined below and you will return to this role following a broadening 6-month placement designed to provide you with a breadth of experience within your functional area and accelerate your progression at National Grid. This placement will provide you with the opportunity to solve complex problems and focus on growth that will transform the energy sector as we know it.

About the Position

As an Associate Analyst, you will join our Financial Planning & Analysis team in New England.You will support the plan to perform process across National Grid USA to deliver annual operating budgets, as well as longer-term business plans, with finance and business insights. You will work with Finance Business Partnering teams regarding key assumptions that will drive results and strategy of businesses and groups.

This is a hybrid role with 2 days of work in the office.

What You'll Do

You will provide important insights and analytics that will support the energy transition!

You will:

  • For each relevant business or group, produce budgets, models, and associated documents in line with both FP&A and wider business needs.
  • Collaborate with Finance Business Partnering to:
    • 1. Develop, drive and challenge business assumptions that are critical to each relevant businesses or group in respect of short-term results and longer-term strategy
    • 2. Run scenario analyses and other ad-hoc requests for key investment decisions, prospective rate filings, etc.
  • Collaborate with the wider FP&A team in respect of consolidated National Grid USA budgets and business plans; Support the requirements, governance, and timeline of the overarching plan to perform process.
  • Partner with Accounting counterparts within the Controllership to ensure proper tie-in between record to report and plan to perform processes (i.e., bridge from actuals to budget/forecast)
  • Support continued step-change to improve plan to perform process while maintaining necessary SOX requirements.
  • Work with peers within the US controllership to drive an inclusive and collaborative team environment.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025, or July 7, 2025
  • Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid'sSafe Driver policy
  • Applicants for the Graduate Development Program must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

Salary Range
Waltham, Massachusetts $65,000 - $76,000 a year


Please note US Colleagues must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont. As a National Grid employee, you should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
