Find your superpower with the Graduate Development Program

National Grid's Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we'll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one - putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you'll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

Information Technology and Digital Graduate Rotations

Graduates in our IT & Digital team will take part in an 18-month exploration. Your first 6-months will be in the role outlined below and you will return to this role following two broadening 6-month placements designed to provide you a breadth of experience within your functional area and accelerate your progression at National Grid. These placements will provide you with the opportunity to solve complex problems and focus on growth that will transform the energy sector as we know it.

About the Position

As an Associate Vendor Analyst, you will be embedded within a team of vendor and contract management professionals and work closely with a wide range of internal stakeholders to ensure their service requirements are understood, sourced, and delivered to provide maximum value to our business whilst maintain appropriate levels of risk.

You will enjoy this role if you are adaptable and results-oriented, and interested in the following areas:

  • Commercial contracts for IT and digital requirements.
  • Relationship building both with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors.
  • Understanding of supplier relationship management and overarching governance in supporting executive and operational business reviews and supplier segmentation
  • Assisting with the management of large corporate managed service agreements delivering extensive services to internal IT and digital organizations supporting the delivery of day-to-day operations and to support projects.

What You'll Do

You will:

  • Deliver commercial support to service delivery and project delivery teams to drive the development and release of innovative features and services to answer our most pressing business needs.
  • Assist with the management, support, and development of the necessary materials for supplier governance meetings. This would include: maintenance of a supplier segmentation model, support and management of supplier scorecards, development of supplier informational packs (supplier spend details, company financial and operational summary), management of supplier meeting notes and development of supplier issue logs, Interaction with senior IT leaders
  • Support in the identification of key internal stakeholders and help setup/deliver an appropriate engagement model to ensure that stakeholder requirements (including the demand for services) are understood and met.
  • Help a Vendor Manager proactively build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to support the delivery of their requirements in line with the agreed timescales, quality levels and KPIs/SLAs and ensure the appropriate documentation is in place to track progress.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of a portfolio of managed services contracts (to be assigned) and provide contract management support to a Vendor Manager through the lifecycle of such agreements including preparation, assistance and tracking of the following:
    • contract administration, change management, dispute and escalation management, cost control/reduction management, deliverable and obligation oversight and management, governance and supplier management, exit management.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree from an accredited institution
  • Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025 or July 7, 2025
  • Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy
  • Applicants for the Graduate Development Program must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

More Information

Salary Range
Waltham, Massachusetts $69,000 - $81,000 a year


Please note US Colleagues must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont. As a National Grid employee, you should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
