The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) position is a member of Alabama Power Company’s (APC) Human Resources Delivery Team. The HRBP collaborates closely with all levels of APC leadership to explore, identify and recommend human resource solutions. HRBPs partner with assigned business unit clients to deliver expertise and solutions in the areas of workforce planning, employee development, employee relations, compensation, employee engagement, inclusion and employment law and regulations.
LOCATION: Must currently live within a commutable distance to the Alabama Power Headquarters in Birmingham. Relocation assistance is not available.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with leadership to build and maintain a workforce that meets the needs of the organization.
- Consult on employee development activities to enhance the knowledge, skills and abilities of the workforce in order to meet the organization’s business needs.
- Leverage data and collaborate to ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees.
- Provide guidance to clients in the areas of employee relations issues such as job performance, conduct and attendance.
- Consult on the implementation of the Company’s compensation philosophy and guidelines to recognize and reward employee performance.
- Work with customers on the overall structure and functionality of the organization and the implementation of necessary organizational change initiatives.
- Consult on activities aimed at improving the relationship between employees and the organization and creating a thriving and energized workforce.
- Partner with leadership to develop strategies to create an environment of inclusion, respect and fairness and leverage the unique backgrounds and characteristics of all employees.
- Advise customers on the application of relevant laws and regulations relating to employment.
- Ensure successful implementation and delivery of Human Resources products and services to customers.
- Ensure that the Human Resources organization’s strategic and tactical initiatives are effectively executed.
Candidates with the following preferred qualifications are encouraged to apply:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field, or demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
Experience:
- Prior work experience in Human Resources, 5+ years preferred.
- Experience consulting with all levels of management, preferably in HR disciplines.
- Experience working with a broad range of employees and leaders.
- Experience in facilitation and project management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to consult with all levels of management by building effective relationships, facilitating discussions, offering objective solutions, influencing, and demonstrating a flexible and adaptable approach to consulting services.
- Knowledge of HR disciplines such as: employee relations; employee development; workforce planning; compensation; employee engagement; inclusion; talent acquisition; and employment law and regulations.
- Ability to use analytical skills to interpret workforce data, identify trends and translate into recommendations for action.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and to manage multiple tasks.
- Oral and written communication skills to include strong listening skills, facilitation skills and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications.
- Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
