Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for providing a reliable, flexible, scalable, secure and efficient IT infrastructure to meet current and future organizational needs. They have deep knowledge and hands-on experience in enterprise-wide platforms, and solve technical problems while working on technology initiatives. Infrastructure Engineers have strong architectural, leadership, and technical skills. They ensure delivery of high-quality artifacts, define standards and configuration for the IT infrastructure and ensure adherence to these standards. Infrastructure Engineers interact in a highly effective manner with other team members and management, drive innovation, and influence delivery and performance.
Costco is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to work on our distributed team with a variety of passionate Costco teammates serving as a driving force for Costco’s infrastructure. This Engineer will serve in the role of technical subject matter expert, refining existing functional requirements for the Linux and AIX Infrastructure at Costco.
An Infrastructure Engineer has strong architectural, leadership, and technical skills. They ensure delivery of high-quality artifacts, and adhere to and follow Costco’s SLDC.

ROLE
● Leads/Collaborates the technical evaluation of all hardware and infrastructure and makes recommendations, sources quotes, and the preparation of paperwork.
● Implements practices, processes, and procedures consistent with Costco's information security policy and IT standards
● Analyzes user and project requirements for solutions.
● Works on Infrastructure-as-Code and automation.
● Provides third level escalation for recovery and restoration in the event of a disaster or major incident.
● Identifies and resolves system, application, or process issues. Escalates, reports, and documents when needed.
● Provides technical input to major service outage root cause analysis and corrective action reports.
● Manages system resources to assure maximum system performance and appropriate additional capacity for peak periods and growth.
● Plans and executes major platform software and operating system upgrades and maintenance across a highly virtualized environment.
● Implements and maintains enterprise-class Red Hat Linux and AIX Unix solutions that support systems such as ERP and WebSphere.
● Collaborates with internal security governance to ensure consistency in adhering to company’s security policies and procedures.
● Learns Costco’s technical needs and requirements and recommends solutions.
● Plans, configures, and implements enterprise-level designs on the Red Hat Linux and AIX Unix platforms that improve availability, response time, and monitoring of key system metrics in collaboration and communication with project, engineering, and support teams.
● Drives innovations and adherence to industry best practices, finds opportunities to innovate, automate and improve service delivery where possible.
● Provides support to the user community using incident and problem management tools, email, and by telephone.
● Creates and maintains detailed up-to-date technical documentation.
REQUIRED
● Minimum of 8 years of IT experience to include at least 4 years of combined Red Hat Linux and/or AIX Unix experience in an enterprise environment.
● Demonstrated ability in Systems Management and Administration (applying fixes, loading the OS, creating Gold images, resolving system issues, working with vendors to resolve issues, etc).
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
● Troubleshooting, upgrades, and maintenance of RedHat Enterprise Linux and/or IBM AIX products.
● Ability to configure and troubleshoot system networking, storage, virtualization, subsystem management, performance tuning, and user access.
● Experience with orchestration, automation, configuration management tools (Ansible, Saltstack, HCM, ITOM).
● Experience with RedHat Satellite and Ansible Automation Platform.
● Strong experience with services in Enterprise – RedHat Identity Management, Active Directory, DNS, Apache, and Tomcat.
● Strong understanding of Kerberos, cross-realm authentication and Kerberized services.
● Ability to develop and document standard operating procedures and best practices in a technical repository.
● Understanding of Configuration Management and Change Management Best Practices.
● Proven ability to partner with others in the area or company to deliver quality solutions.
● Ability to work effectively and produce consistent results with a minimum of supervision. Self-motivated, responsible, conscientious, and detail-oriented.
● Ability to work well under pressure and handle crisis situations professionally.
● Scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the business, including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
Recommended
● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent formal training and experience.
● DevOps and Agile experience.
● Experience with VMWare, OpenShift, and virtualized environments.
● Experience in managing GPFS.
● Experience using and managing NIM Server.
● Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or higher certification or equivalent engineering experience.
● Proven experience reviewing and comparing multiple platform options for a given application, and collaborating with appropriate teams to choose the right platform.
● Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.

Pay Ranges:
Level 3 - $130,000 - $160,000
Level SR - $150,000 - $190,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
Level Staff - $180,000 - $225,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
