The role:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated construction inspector to join our team in the Sylvan office. In this role, you will inspect construction work at project sites, work with contractors and internal staff, manage the field inspection team on larger projects and ensure contractor compliance on plans and specifications. A day in the life:
Review contract documentation and propose solutions to anticipated problems.
Inspect and monitor construction work to make sure it is in compliance with plans, specifications, permits and biological requirements.
Measure and record work and prepare source documents to support payment.
Act as an agency representative in communications with contractors, the public and other interested parties.
Monitor safety procedures and traffic control.
Perform contract administration duties, including the preparation of documents such as daily progress reports.
Provide project information to internal staff, and oversee field and office personnel in documentation, payment and record assembly duties.
Ensure that required tests are performed and documented.
Ensure that contractors and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) subcontractors meet contract requirements.
May be on call 24/7, including weekends and holidays. May travel, occasionally overnight.
Work is performed outdoors 50% or more of the time and may require lifting up to 50 pounds, working on hazardous terrain, in adverse weather, near traffic or hazardous construction conditions.

The salary range listed is the non-PERS monthly salary range. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible, the salary range will increase by 6%.

Minimum qualifications:
Four years of para-professional engineering or surveying experience. One year of this experience must have been working independently or as a senior member of a team or work group;
OR
An associate’s degree in engineering technology or surveying from a recognized community college or technical school of engineering and two and one-half years of engineering or surveying experience. One year of this experience must have been working independently or as a senior member of a team or work group;
OR
A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, surveying, or transportation-related engineering and one year civil engineering or surveying experience;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special qualifications:
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

Construction experience, preferably in highway or transportation.
Experience with construction site oversight, interpreting and applying contract plans and specification requirements.
Experience providing construction documentation, such as preparing daily reports, inspection reports, field measurements and interpreting quality documentation.
Experience leading a team of inspectors.
