Job Summary

The University of Michigan Investment Office is looking for an intellectually curious and collaborative individual to join our accomplished investment team as an Investment Coordinator.

What You'll Do

Reporting to a senior member of the Investment Office, you will support the Investment team in multiple entry-level operational responsibilities across asset classes. We ask that you have the ability to handle information requests and coordinate responses from several teams to ensure completion.

Responsibilities*

  • Complete subscription documents, escalate relevant questions to legal counsel or Investment professionals; and obtain authorized signatures.
  • Maintain and audit database of investment contacts, investment reports, and support documents ensuring all data elements are entered accurately and consistently.
  • Monitor the flow of information and processes related to investment execution, responding to the needs of internal clients by collaborating with university-wide groups and within the Investment Office.
  • Be the main point of contact for investment office personnel, internal university contacts, and external service providers regarding document management.
  • Coordinate approval of external cash activity by obtaining necessary signatures and coordinating with internal teams for payment.
  • Meet deadlines and maintain accurate processing of investment operations tasks, including, amendments, consents, KYC, MFN elections, and tax requests (i.e., FACTA/CRS).
  • Coordinate workflow between teams using database system and other tools.
  • Analyze internal processes and recommend and implement procedural or policy changes to improve operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications*

A background in financial services or combination of education and applicable work experience of at least two (2) years. Excellent attention to detail, strong quantitative skills, and demonstrated leadership capabilities. Self-starter who can manage deadlines and work well under pressure. Ability to work independently, while being a collaborative and team-oriented individual.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Onsite work is required during the first six months of employment in the role.  Upon satisfactory performance during the first six months, a hybrid work arrangement may be an option.  Hybrid work requires team member to be onsite at least 50% of the month.
