As a Principal R&D Engineer you will design and deliver large, complex portions of the technologies that power our solutions and products. You will build a proven record developing technologies and will build deep technical skills. Work in an agile environment and solve complex problems with speed and creativity.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and guidance in the design, development, and testing of an innovative new navigation system fusing conventional and alternative sensors
- Mentor and guide a team of R&D engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence
- Drive innovation by identifying and implementing cutting-edge technologies
- Lead the ideation, conceptualization, prototyping, and development of the navigation system
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to leverage collective expertise and resources
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and Honeywell's quality and safety protocols
- Evaluate emerging technologies for their applicability to current and future projects
- Support the transfer of technology from R&D to manufacturing or production teams
- Identify and assess technical and project-related risks
U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

The annual base salary range for this position is $172,000- $217,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
YOU MUST HAVE
- 6+ years of experience leading research and development projects within a technology or manufacturing environment
- Strong background in developing navigation systems for defense or commercial applications
- Technical expertise in inertial and GPS systems
- Experience in the design and development of Kalman Filters
- Proven track record of technical leadership and project management
WE VALUE
- Bachelor's degree or Advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, or another related field
- Solid understanding of systems engineering and software development best practices, design patterns, and architecture principles
- Knowledge and experience with alternative navigation concepts such as magnetometers, vision-based systems, and LEO systems
- Background working with regulated and safety-critical systems
- Knowledge of industry standards such as DO-178 & DO-254
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and MOSA (Modular Open Systems Approach)
