Overview:

McGuireWoods LLP is looking for a Litigation Paralegal to join the Labor & Employment group in either our Baltimore, MD or Charlotte, NC office.The ideal candidate will have some experience in litigation, including performing legal research, organizing documents and assisting in document production, assisting with and preparing basic pleadings, assisting and responding to discovery requests and production of documents, court filings (federal and state), and preparing for trial.

Responsibilities:
  • Collects, organizes and maintains documents and files related to legal matters, including documents received from the client, opposing parties or other sources.
  • Performs basic factual research and investigation related to client matters and other due diligence as appropriate.
  • Conducts research using LEXIS, Westlaw or other relevant research platforms to support the needs of the client.
  • Manages calendars, docket and tickler systems, and assists in meeting deadlines.
  • Draftsbasic pleadings, assisting and responding to discovery request and production of documents, court filings (federal and state) along with preparing for trial.
  • Ensures filings are in compliance with court rules and e-filing documents therein; e-file and hand-file documents in federal and state court.
  • Proofreads legal documents.
Qualifications:
  • Requires a minimum of three years of work experience as a litigation paralegal.
  • Requires a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to embrace new processes and incorporate new technology to meet client demands as they evolve.
  • Experience with iManage preferred.
