The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $111,544 to $160,345

Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Communications, the position is responsible for managing strategic communications that AVANGRID business objectives with external stakeholders and employees. Responsibilities include creating communication related materials for internal and external stakeholders. Manages external resources to achieve timely execution of all communication related materials and ensures appropriate branding.
Key Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the operating company leadership team and key stakeholders, strategically develops communication to achieve AVANGRID’s objectives.
- Responsible for building and managing AVANGRID’s national brand image and company reputation in collaboration with customer service and public affairs.
- Responsible for managing community relations in support of operating company initiatives, operations, and capital investment projects.
- Leads external operating company communication including media relations, developing press releases, assisting in the preparation of executives for media interviews and a variety of other projects, including internal and external events, etc.
- Provides content for corporate websites and intranets.
- Assist Internal Communications team with internal employee communications, including developing employee communication in a variety of delivery mechanisms, such as written via the Company intranet or discussions in town halls, etc.
- Establishes and expands relationships with national top tier media and trade publications.
- Assists in the managing relationships with key business and community partners.
- Coordinates and manages communication initiatives with Iberdrola S.A and AVANGRID to ensure consistency in messaging and image.
- Effectively manages communication team for high performance.
- Manages corporate and affiliate budgets.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience or equivalent experience in Communications or a relevant field.
- Experience in creating and editing corporate and financial communications, including press releases, Q&A’s and general platforms on all company matters, quarterly financial press releases, crisis communications and scripts for senior executives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, writing, editing and project management skills.
- Strong strategic and analytical capability.
- Must be highly adaptable and resilient to change.
- Strong ability to work with senior leaders and manage relations with key internal and external stakeholders on communication opportunities and business issues.
- Ability to multi-task and quickly prioritize projects and work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Self-starter, independent worker, strong team and cross-functional collaborator.
- Excellent leadership and collaboration skills in effectively managing staff.
- Knowledge of the electric and gas industry.
- Ability to work occasional non-traditional work hours (nights and weekends) as needed for emergency and crisis communications.
