Key Accountabilities
DUTIES:
Successful applicants will be engaged in performing work in the skills indicated below.
- Setting up, operating, and maintaining machinist lathes, milling machines, shaper, radial drills, drill press and other related machine tools. Having and using knowledge of the machining characteristics of various metals, using shop mathematics, charts, tables, and handbook formulas in laying out work. Making up tools, dies, and jigs for special jobs, doing wide variety of expert bench work, machining and fitting bearings of all types, working to finest accuracy.
- Using all types of rigging equipment for moving all kinds of heavy machines and equipment on level, up ending, raising to elevated location, assembling large parts together, selecting proper method of rigging using and arranging proper hitches, knots, slings and having thorough knowledge on the work limits for each size and type of rigging, including strength of fiber and wire rope, capacity of hand chain and power hoists, skid rolls and blocking.
- Setting up, assembling, disassembling, repairing, and aligning equipment such as fans, pumps, engines, compressors
- Use acetylene torch for cutting and heating
- Having experience in operation of inside gantry cranes
Must be capable of progressing with advances made in the field.
May be responsible for and direct work of one or two assistants.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE & TRAINING:
Make arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.
Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications
Ability to diagnose and correct equipment difficulties and faults
Must be capable of preparing written reports and sketches
Ability to interpret equipment maintenance standards and perform work following company rules, practices and safety requirements
Completed Machinist skills training in Lathe Operations, Milling Operations, and Radial Drill operations
Will be required to pass departmental Machinist qualification test before acceptance
EXPERIENCE:
Four years experience, including at least four years broad related experience.
