The role:
Join our Commerce and Compliance Division as an over-dimension permit analyst. In this role, you will issue commercial over-dimension permits by phone or online request. While following established procedures, you will apply or deny requests, provide information pertaining to road and bridge restrictions and answer questions from a variety of customers. This is a limited duration appointment that is expected to end on or before June 30, 2025. Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible and have a designated maximum length of service. The limited duration appointment has the potential to become permanent.
We may also fill this position as a rotational assignment open to current State of Oregon employees. Rotational assignments do not have the potential to become permanent without a separate competitive recruitment process. To be eligible for the rotational assignment, you must be a current State of Oregon employee in a permanent position (limited duration and temporary employees not eligible).

A day in the life:
Interview customers to obtain information related to size, weight and requested routing.
Issue or deny permits based on information collected.
Coordinate permit requests and serve as a liaison with other units or agencies.
Maintain confidentiality of cardholder information, account numbers, vehicle records and other personal information.
Issue routine and non-routine permits including emergency movement permits and joint county and state permits.
Provide information pertaining to road and bridge restrictions and closures to customers and point of entry staff.
Review agency records and prepare information for use in court cases.
May require irregular work hours to meet traffic demands and may need to work varying shifts to cover office hours of 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
This position manages a high volume of telephone contact and may require walking, bending, stooping, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.

The salary range listed is the non-PERS monthly salary range. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible, the salary range will increase by 6.95%.

Minimum qualifications:
Three years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in-person or by phone providing information about services and programs. At least one year of this experience must involve explaining and interpreting rules, programs and procedures and explaining requirements and gaining compliance.
AND
Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
Completion of an associate's degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.

This opportunity is scheduled to last until 06/30/2025 but could change based on business needs.
Rotational candidates must meet the position's minimum qualifications to be considered. The successful candidate may be eligible for work out of class compensation within this classification's salary range.
