Department Summary

The Department of Global Languages and Literatures is committed to helping students develop an in-depth understanding of foreign languages, literatures, linguistics, cultures and civilizations. Our students learn to express their ideas and views in a new language while discovering how another culture has contributed to societal development. They become engaged international citizens who enlist language skills and cultural knowledge to succeed in a variety of careers and intellectual disciplines in an increasingly globalized world.

Essential Duties

The Department of Global Languages and Literatures at Bridgewater State University seeks qualified Part Time Faculty who are enthusiastic teachers and dedicated to working with undergraduates for the 2024/2025 academic year. Candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities.

Specific courses are as follows. The successful candidate must be available to teach IN PERSON on the following days/times during the Fall 2024 semester:

LASP 165-Spanish for Health Professions (MW 12:20-1:35) LASP 101-Elementary Spanish I (TR 11-12:15pm) LANG 199-First Year Seminar on Culture of the Spanish-speaking World (MW 150-305p)

Required Qualifications

1. A Master's Degree in Spanish or related field.
2. Fluent in Spanish.
3. Demonstrated ability to use technology effectively in online and in-person teaching, and learning designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of the concepts, technologies, principles and practices of foreign language instruction.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Ph.D. in Spanish preferred.
2. Experience teaching hybrid courses.
