What You Will Do
The Perinatal Ultrasonographer shall perform ultrasound procedures obstetric ultrasound procedures evaluating fetal development on multiple and high-risk pregnancies.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of appropriate educational program.
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
Other Qualification Requirements
- Meets the licensure requirement for specialty. (ARDMS Qualified)
Preferred Qualifications
- Fetal Echo Certification is highly desirable.
Essential Functions
- Billing compliance
Monitors billing, completion and/or modification of exams.
Verifies preliminary billing reports, scheduled and completed exam, and reports.
Ensures correct modifiers and charge codes are used. - Customer service
Assigns staff to assist co-workers in completing of their tasks (i.e. Clerical staff and/or Radiology Assistants).
Ensures work related discussions are professional and limited to private areas.
Consistently communicates in a positive and timely manner with all customers.
Utilizes active listening practices and acknowledges and accepts customer's feelings and perceptions as valid.
Demonstrates teamwork, cooperation and responsiveness.
When dealing with multiple priorities at the same time, assures customers that they will be attended to as soon as possible

Supports and may facilitate departmental performance improvement initiatives.
Identifies problems and implements appropriate actions to improve departmental operations and/or quality of care.
Participation in task force or projects.
Trains new employees and students, as requested.

Ensures cleanliness and adequate stocking in exam and work areas.

Monitors completion of assigned staff duties. - Patient care
Monitors and evaluates exam quality and procedures.
Checks/completes patient name bands, physician orders, consent forms and prescriptions.
Follows department/hospital infection control guidelines.
Explains procedure to patient prior to exam.
Assures physical and psychological patient needs are met.
Initiates proper response to emergent situations.
Maintains patient medical devices (IV's catheters, tubes monitors, oxygen, etc.
Demonstrates knowledge of patient care standards - Safety
Submits completed safety test by scheduled deadline with 100% score.
Practices proper body mechanics 100% of the time.
Reports and corrects observed safety hazards immediately.
Reports any work related injury to self or staff immediately and completes appropriate paperwork.
Adheres to universal precautions.
