The Product Manager establishes priorities and provides ongoing management for a specific product area based on consumer insights and analytics, competitive position, and business priorities. Manages design, development and launch of new, and enhancement of existing products across markets and segments.
The Product Manager gathers and analyzes member, employer, competitive and market intelligence to support decision making and product planning.
The Product Manager must have strong business acumen and ability to work with cross-functional teams to improve our products, support profitable growth, and improve the end-to-end experience for Premera members. The Product Manager will take strong ownership of their product area and demonstrate the flexibility to perform a wide-range of tasks including detailed analysis, reviewing critical product documents and contracts, and preparing presentations.
What you will do:
- Understands and supports the roadmap (along with leadership) for the product area to focus on customer outcomes, business impacts, and integration with key journeys, building the business case, ROI analysis, and lead stakeholder alignment for the plan to accomplish the product objectives.
- Understands product performance, using data to assess membership, revenues, costs, margin, competitive positioning, NPS, and other performance drivers.
- Gathers and analyzes data on customer needs, competitive offerings, and market trends.
- Designs and develops products through final specifications using Agile approach. Create maintain and outline work in the product backlog.
- Manages product performance and operations, throughout the product lifecycle. Identify improvement opportunities and problems that need to be addressed (feeding into the product backlog)
- Work with product implementation team to develop and manage workplans for launch of new and revised products and sunsetting existing products.
- Works with cross-functional teams and maintains strong relationships with business partners to achieve objectives, improve performance and remove obstacles.
- Support product-related communications, including RFPs, strategic presentations, and interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Works closely with vendors that support products (selection, contracting, performance management, issue resolution, sunsetting)
- Coordinates and facilitates departmental and interdepartmental workgroups, work debriefings, planning sessions, and other facilitated discussions.
- Mentors and supports Product team members and fosters a positive team culture. Takes initiative on growth and supports team learning.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
- Four-year college degree or four (4) years of product, consulting, planning, research, or equivalent work experience (Required).
- Three (3) years of product development, product management, marketing, consulting, or related experience (Required).
- One (1) year professional experience in healthcare or strong interest in healthcare as demonstrated by one (1) year volunteer, research, or other related activity (Required).
- Four-year college degree with coursework, research or project work in health care.
- Four (4) years of health care/health plan experience including product development and management.
- Professional designation (eg. Agile certifications, etc.).
- Experience with compliance/regulatory monitoring at both a federal and state level.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
National Salary Range:
$84,800.00 - $144,200.00National Plus Salary Range:
$96,700.00 - $164,400.00*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
