Job Description

As a Project Engineer you will lead the development and execution of capital projects as well as support plant engineering needs. You will develop and lead project teams which may include internal partners, outside engineering resources, suppliers, contractors and regulatory personnel. You will work with a variety of departments to develop business propositions and executive summaries for capital projects which drive and increase in company value.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensuring compliance with safety, sanitation, and government regulations
  • Leading project team members through the execution of capital projects with the objective of meeting the project success criteria.
  • Providing clear communication and direction to project team members and updates to project stakeholders.
  • Providing guidance with the development of specifications, capital equipment, and the selection of vendors and contractors.
  • Providing technical advice and assistance as required to sustain production capacity and capabilities.
  • Assisting in cross-training efforts to help develop partner’s skills in other functional areas of engineering (i.e. Utilizing “EPM” Enterprise Project Management tools)
  • Working with cross functional teams to develop business propositions and executive summaries which support company growth and profitability.
  • Investigate, evaluate and implement new or improved technology/methods that may improve capability, capacity and overall profitability.
  • Assist the plant team leadership with requests as required (upper management meetings, personnel, technical reviews, lead engineering sessions, advisory help, customer visits, etc.)
  • Together with the leadership team, ensures compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans, in addition to customer requirements. Interprets and communicates customer requirements to plant production and/or support groups. Establishes and Audits PCPs, CCPs and Standard Operating Procedures to define and monitor processes, to ensure customer requirements are met. Reviews incidents during which the procedures are not met, and determines appropriate corrective action for partners failing to follow standard procedures.
  • Execute Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls projects against commitments (cost, schedule, and performance) while adhering to Schreiber’s Enterprise Project Management (EPM) principles
  • Proactively monitor and maintain plant control systems including: network health, controller functionality, obsolesce management
  • Establish and maintain electrical, automation, and controls related standards
  • Develop Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Human-Machine Interface (HMI), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and data reporting/dashboard solutions utilizing scripting and database systems to realize performance and safety improvements through operations systems.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelors in Engineering or related field
  • Experienced in electrical controls (PLC programming, Servos, VFD’s, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical control system programming, electrical system design, power distribution, project management, and equipment installations
  • Proficiency with reading and understanding electrical drawings.
  • Proficiency and aptitude with computer and automation programming.
  • Programming experience with Rockwell Logix 5000 PLCs, motion control, Panelview HMIs, and Ignition SCADA.
  • Experience in leading projects and project management
  • Ability to function in a team environment
  • End-user computer skills
  • Desire to grow and take on new challenges and opportunities
  • Internal partners: Minimum of 2 years of experience in current role
