The Houston office of McGuireWoods is seeking an Associate for their Tax & Employee Benefits Department.

We represent individuals, corporations, nonprofit organizations and other business entities in tax audits at federal, state and local government levels. We also regularly represent clients before federal, state and local tax authorities; before state trial and appellate courts; and in U.S. Tax Court, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, federal district courts and federal courts of appeals. Our private wealth services team focuses on the unique needs of high-net-worth clients around the globe, including estate planning, gift and estate tax law, and family business succession issues.

- Candidates should have 1-4 years of experience in a law firm. The associate will work with McGuireWoods’ transactional tax lawyers to assist clients with tax issues relating to renewable energy transactions, such as advising clients on tax credit qualification, begin construction requirements, prevailing wage requirements and apprenticeship requirements under code section 45 and 48, M&A transactions, tax equity transactions, tax credit transfers and other joint ventures.
- Experience with tax credit transactions, tax credit transfers, tax equity financings and tax opinion letters is a requirement.
- Excellent academic credentials required and an LL.M. in taxation is preferred.
- Texas bar is required.
