Full Job Description

Job Summary

The Departments Psychiatry and Learning Health Sciences have been awarded a R21/R33 NIH grant to study Risky Alcohol Use and its effects on surgical outcomes. As part of this grant, we are seeking a motivated and dynamic team member to join us as an Applications Programmer Analyst Lead.

In collaboration with the co-PIs, this individual will participate on the research team as a skilled contributor and lead researcher who specializes in natural language processing and advanced data analysis. The role requires designing models or other vehicles for data gathering and analysis, conducting data analysis, participating in writing research proposals, reports for the funding agency and articles for publication, and will have oversight for researchers and staff engaged in day-to-day operations. The successful candidate must be able to present results of the study at professional meetings and other forums and be able to collaborate with other researchers on long-range plans for the project, acting as an expert in natural language processing and data harmonization.

Success in this role requires an ambitious and self-motivated individual capable of identifying areas for improvement, designing solutions, and prioritizing work to ensure the project is meeting its goals and timeline. This will involve learning and applying new computational technologies, programming languages, and skills to ensure that we are optimizing models and research results using state-of-the-art analytic approaches. An inquisitive individual with a strong work ethic and desire for continuous improvement is a strong fit for this position.
