These include waste-to-energy facilities, transfer stations, ash monofills, landfills, and fleets of rail cars and collection vehicles. We process more than 11 million tons of waste annually, converting 6.7 million tons of waste into clean, renewable energy that powers 340,000 homes. We recycle more than 234,000 tons of plastic, paper and metals from the waste stream.
WIN Waste Innovations is currently looking for a Scale Operator at our Shrewsbury, Massachusetts ash monofill. This position is responsible for determining the correct gross, tare and net weights on fuel deliveries and proper sampling for moisture content on all loads of processed fuel and logs delivered to or shipped from the facility. The normal workweek is 25 to 30 hours and includes working every other Saturday, depending on volume of fuel deliveries. The ideal candidate would have excellent organizational skills with ability to perform basic arithmetic calculation; strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to operate efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced and diversified work environment, basic typing/computer skills are necessary to operate the computerized scale system, basic knowledge of safety and standard operating procedures, recognize safety hazards and communicate effectively and be able to operate basic safety equipment, i.e. fire extinguisher; take part in safety meetings to achieve required training in basic hazard communication, hazardous materials, fire suppression, first-aid, CPR, hearing conservation, and all other safety programs.

* Scale operator will work 2 to 3 weekdays (6:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.) and every other Saturday (6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) and may be required to work some holidays. Additional hours or shift changes are usually worked to cover vacations and illness.
* Working conditions are subject to moderate to high noise, fumes, dust and other airborne particles, moving vehicles and heavy equipment, high and low air temperatures.
Physical Demand:
* Stand
* Sit for prolonged periods of time
* Walk
* Reach with hands and arms
* Bend, push, pull
* Ascend and descend stairs as part of normal work activity and emergency egress situations
* Lift 25 lbs.
* Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, corrected or otherwise
* Operate handheld fire extinguishing equipment
