The Bank Technology organization provides a high quality, common Webservices Integration platform for all Schwab Bank Technology needs. The Bank Technology Quality Assurance (Bank QA) team provides testing in support of our Webservices, microservices and Web based application testing. Bank QA is responsible for test strategy and planning, authoring test plans and scripts, and automating functional and regression testing. What You Have:
Are you a highly skilled Senior Performance Engineer? We are seeking a Senior Performance Engineer to improve the performance and reliability of web, mobile, and API platforms. You will design and automate performance tests in CI/CD pipelines, analyze bottlenecks and create observability dashboards for real-time insights. This role also involves innovations and collaborating with teams to optimize system performance and user experience across our distributed and mainframe environments.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with product and technical teams to analyze, design, and translate non-functional requirements.
- Experience conducting performance testing to ensure system capacity, reliability, and scalability
- Hands-on experience analyzing reports and documenting observations to identify bottlenecks
- Investigates & reports project issues by communicating & working with various departments including Development, Product, Project Management, Systems & Application support groups, Network Engineering, etc., as well as other project teams
- Using workload information and performance results to identify and understand performance bottlenecks and provide tuning recommendations
- Analyzes slowdowns in frontend and backend, identifies root causes, and collaborates with teams for optimization.
- Extensive experience with JMeter, LoadRunner and other tools to test system reliability.
- Extensive experience with Splunk, Grafana and AppD to track system behavior and find issues early.
- Builds observability dashboards and implements distributed tracing and instrumentation.
- Contribute actively to Performance Engineering CoE, Continues Improvement, Innovations, and Research
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams and leadership to ensure performance goals are met.
- Proven ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with all stakeholders
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ Years Executing exploratory testing for new features within Agile development processes
- 3+ Years Software Development/QA experience in a production environment, including front-end and API development and testing
- 5+ Years Proficiency in web application performance testing, including experience with Load Balancers, Linux, Postgres, Rails, or Node.js
- 5+ years Experience with performance monitoring of database servers and writing SQL queries
- 3+ Years Proficiency in JavaScript and at least one scripting language (Java, Ruby, Python)
- 2+ years Experience in building test frameworks and integrating within a CI stack using tools like SVN/GIT, Github/Bamboo, Ant, Maven, Puppet, JIRA
- 5+ Years Experience with performance testing frameworks/tools (Jmeter, Loadrunner, Webload)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Gherkin language, like Cucumber, JBehave, or SpecFlow
- Understanding of CI/CD practices and Lean DevOps methodologies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Financial/Trading services industry experience is a plus
