Overview

This job helps REI succeed by offering training and talent development solutions. It supports REI’s business and operational strategies. This may include manager-level or complex solutions for supply chain operations, functional training, and warehouse employee development. Solutions aim to maximize talent and engage REI’s warehouse workforce. Duties include needs assessment, solution design, development, implementation planning, delivery, and evaluation. Models and acts in line with REI’s guiding values and mission


Responsibilities and Qualifications

Assess/Examine

  • Researches and examines best practices in order to recommend culturally relevant approaches. Shares emerging themes with team.
  • Understands REI's strategic initiatives. Partners with business leaders, field Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), peers, and team members to establish talent needs.
  • Examines talent and skill gaps and likely causes by collecting and compiling assessment data.
  • Analyzes talent and skill gaps and likely causes by collecting and compiling assessment data.
  • Initiates, identifies and recommends strategies to improve warehouse employee performance and service acumen.

Design & Development

  • Manages the full cycle of project management. This includes concept, design, implementation, launch, and measurement. Creates and acquires programs to address REI's warehouse talent needs.
  • Applies principles of adult learning, learning styles and various instructional design approaches and processes to learning solutions.
  • Establishes the best strategy, methods, and technologies to deliver solutions. This includes paper-based, e-learning, experiential, and digital/video solutions.
  • Builds solid relationships with executives, business leaders, and internal stakeholders.
  • Examines organizational readiness to optimize user adoption. Thoroughly assesses impact of change to ensure flawless execution.
  • Ensures solutions are in alignment and integrated with other supply chain talent management programs.
  • Manages vendors where necessary to support development and delivery of content.

Implement and Deliver

  • Collaborates with cross-divisional leadership to implement solutions across co-op.
  • Provides oversight and direction to team members involved in execution.
  • As needed, uses skilled facilitation to deliver resources to the business.
  • Manages the library of resources through tools and technology, such as SharePoint or a learning management system.

Evaluate & Maintain

  • Designs and implements evaluation processes to assess effectiveness of programs.
  • Draws conclusions and establishes implications from examined data to report to stakeholders.

Other

  • Proposes and submits annual training design budgets to the Director and Planning.
  • Plans and manages project and program resources, such as allocated budget and project team members.
  • Maintains solutions, reporting and resources as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years' experience and deep expertise in several Operations Training functions (such as strategy, content development, budgeting, implementation)
  • 2+ years' experience in retail, service industry or branded organization.
  • 4 year degree in business, instructional design, training or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Project management skills include creating action plans and timelines. Manage multiple programs simultaneously. Complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Experience in consultation with senior leadership; demonstrated ability to communicate (influence, present data) at leadership level.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Windows.
  • Proficiency in visual learning and development software (e.g. Camtasia, Photoshop, After Effects, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as an administrator of a Learning Management System (LMS)
