The Sr. Supply Chain Specialist role is responsible for the production planning activities related to the Alkermes Wilmington product portfolio. This role will coordinate and manage clinical and commercial manufacturing, scheduling, and release planning. Additionally, the individual will partner with department employees and provide project support and participation in cross-functional departmental initiatives involving processes, systems, and new approaches for continuous improvement.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and publish short-term production plans and schedules from MRP / forecasts and weekly supply requests.
- Interact with Manufacturing, QA, QC, Materials Management, and Engineering staff to manage and communicate production scheduling.
- Highlight risks and critical issues.
- Coordinate and lead team meetings related to production planning and batch release.
- Develop and maintain supply chain metrics (e.g. On Time In Full, Backorder) and develop and track production activities schedule adherence vs. plan / timelines / schedules that would increase risk to the continuity of supply.
- Manage timely closure of action items in production planning and release cycle.
- Verify all transactions are complete for accurate batch reporting.
- Establish long-term production schedules and inventory analysis reports.
- Assist with Rough Cut Capacity Planning, Site Level Supply Planning and long-term capacity planning.
- Actively participate, and in some instances lead, the alliance partner relationships for monthly supply planning and coordination meetings, track performance, and proactively identify supply disruptions and risks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficiency with SAP (specifically, experience with MRP modules).
- Demonstrated expertise in production planning/control in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes and best practices.
- Strong understanding of Sales and Operations Planning processes, specifically site level Supply Planning and Rough Cut Capacity Planning.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of the tools and vocabulary of Project Management (e.g. Gantt charts, PERT charts).
- General knowledge of cGMPs.
- Team development and leadership; communication, influence, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize.
- Well-developed communication skills for delivery of technical information across all levels of the organization.
- High level of personal and professional integrity.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related background.
- Minimum 5-10 years related experience in capacity planning, purchasing, and materials management, preferably in an FDA (or similar) regulated environment
- CPIM, CSCP, or related Certification (preferred but not required).
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred but not required).
