Position - Union: Line Inspector – Traveling Crew (R-09006)

Number of Positions - 1

Location – CMP- ME- Augusta -Service Bldg

Hourly Rate: $38.60

Job Summary

Patrolling and inspecting overhead lines and company rights-of-way by helicopter.

Key Responsibilities

  • To inspect, as a passenger in a helicopter, lines and related equipment for the purpose of determining and reporting existing conditions.
  • To record, while in flight, information regarding observations of such things as line conditions and rights-of-way in order that permanent records may be made.
  • To perform regular helicopter patrols and make emergency patrols as required.
  • To practice the best public relations in connection with helicopter operations.
  • Assist in overseeing/reviewing various contractors used on the distribution and transmission systems.
  • Performs summer and winter load infrared inspections.
  • To have a thorough knowledge of the safety instructions affecting the work and to perform the work accordingly.
  • Must be proficient in the processing and handling of inspection records, contractor invoices, customer requests, etc.
  • Maintains a system of records sufficient to document deficiencies/hazards observed on the transmission system and relays this information to the appropriate division/district thereby ensuring corrective action is performed.
  • Performs detailed ground inspections to determine adequacy of pole plant and/or conditions on the right-of-way.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have Line Worker 1/C experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent, preferably with additional training.
  • Must have valid motor vehicle operator’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Must be able to carry out essential functions of classification.
