Job Summary

This position is for the role of Middleware and IT Tools Administrator, who will manage and maintain IBM tools, middleware products, and automation tools both on-premises and in the cloud for AVANGRID. This role involves configuring, monitoring, and tuning IBM Middleware products, APIC, AppConnect, MQ. AWS API gateway, etc in high-availability, clustered and DR environments. Proficiency in UNIX, Shell scripting, Java and interface development is required. The candidate must excel in troubleshooting, decision-making, and fostering a learning environment.

The successful candidate will collaborate with production control, tools and configuration services to manage and maintain Control-M, UC4, Autosys and the monitoring tools, like ELK, Helix and Entuity that are on premises and in the cloud for AVANGRID. Should be able to function as an effective team member, co-ordinate, collaborate and facilitate the solution.

The key also rests in evolution. Learn and grow as tools and environment change. You will work with other groups in the IT Operations, serve as a lead in helping drive technology and new initiatives as best fit for a competitive environment. Develop and communicate plans and expectations for the support of the infrastructure, and monitor and provide continual feedback to management regarding system performance, project updates, etc.

The individual in this role will have the following responsibilities:

  • Installation & Maintenance: Install, upgrade, and patch IBM WebSphere MQ. Configure and administer MQ objects and application-specific infrastructure.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor application-specific queues, troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide project support for IBM Middleware technologies like WebSphere MQ Series, Message Broker, IBM Integration Bus, ACE, IBM API Connect, APP Connect, and AWS API gateway.
  • Service Oriented Architecture: Implement Service Oriented Architecture solutions using IBM DataPower Gateways, IBM API Connect, WebSphere Service Registry and Repository, WESB, WebSphere Message Broker, and WebSphere MQ.
  • API Management: Install, upgrade, patch, and administer API Connect 10. Define REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Scripting and Automation: Utilize CLI and shell scripting in AIX/Linux. Work with job automation tools like ControlM, UC4, and Autosys.
  • Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with global peers to identify and implement industry best practices. Create documentation and improve automation and middleware solutions.
  • Security Management: Manage TLS Certificates and ensure compliance with security standards.

The role requires the admin to manage and work to implement the organization’s vision towards optimization and productive simplified solutions in collaboration with Global IBERDROLA S.A) peers. As part of their duty, perform extensive research and analysis to attain the best practices, gather and analyze data to identify areas needing improvement, recommend proposals, and implement solutions in problem areas, under the guidance of TPO Operations, while meeting the company compliance requirements. The tech will anticipate, address, and enable automation solutions, so the resources are optimized, and down time minimized.

Work with process office to create documentation following best practices, championing procedural participation, and improve the automation and middleware solutions on a consistent basis. This role will bring IT knowledge and expertise, process skills and business acumen to execute and improve upon the existing tools and middleware functions.

The successful candidate will possess problem solving and decision-making skills together with excellent organizational and support management skills.

Required skills:

  • 5+ years’ experience with Middleware Products: IBM MQ. IBM App Connect/Integration Bus preferred.
  • 3+ Years experience working with APIC, AWS API gateway or similar products.
  • Experience in operating system and shell scripting in AIX/Linux.
  • Experience troubleshooting and remediation of defects and error scenarios.
  • Familiar with general security concepts (authentication, authorization, encryption, digital signatures) and SSL/TLS.
  • Experience with Control-M, Autosys, Automic UC4 and or batch scheduling tools.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like ELK, BMC Helix and Entuity.

Education:

  • Associate or bachelor’s Degree or technical institute degree/certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field.
  • Or equivalent work experience with High school diploma or GED equivalent
