Bridgewater State University's health programs are housed in the Department of Health and Kinesiology. In addition to the health programs, the department is home to physical education, exercise physiology and health science majors. The department prepares public and community health professionals, coaches, fitness and recreation leaders, and school teachers in physical education, and adapted physical education to provide qualified leadership in their respective fields, and enhance the quality of life of residents of the region and the Commonwealth.The Department of Health and Kinesiology offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including majors in Public Health, Health Studies, Health Science (with concentrations in pre-Occupational Therapy, pre-Physical Therapy, and pre-Athletic Training), Physical Education (with five concentration options), and Exercise Physiology. Additionally, we offer a minor in Nutrition and graduate programs such as an MS in Physical Education, and a graduate certificate in Professional Tennis Management.

Essential Duties
The Department of Health and Kinesiology seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Public Health and Nutrition. The ideal candidate will have expertise in nutrition, hold the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential, and have a background in public health education. Applicants should demonstrate scholarly inquiry, a commitment to equity-minded practices, possess experience teaching at the college/university level, and be skilled in a variety of teaching modalities, such as student-centered learning and inquiry-based approaches.The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Teaching undergraduate courses in public health, health studies, nutrition, and health sciences.
- Providing holistic student advising within Public Health, Health Studies, and Health Science programs.
- Leading the Nutrition minor.
- Supporting and teaching Wellness Coaching.
- Mentoring undergraduate research and supervising students' field experiences.
- Contributing to university service and engaging in community partnerships.
- Participating in undergraduate program review, annual program assessment, and curriculum development.
Opportunities for teaching in the graduate program and summer courses, with additional compensation, are available.

Required Qualifications
- Earned doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, DrPH) in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, Health Science, or a related field by August 31, 2025.
- Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN) credential.
- Experience teaching courses in public health, nutrition, health education, or health promotion.
- A record of ongoing scholarly activity, including publications, presentations, workshops, or creative endeavors.
- A strong commitment to teaching excellence and working with first-generation college students in an environment that fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Public Health (MPH) and Certified in Public Health (CPH) credentials or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
- National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) certification.
- Experience in undergraduate program review, assessment, or curriculum development.
- Experience creating or participating in community partnerships.
- Proficiency in using high-impact teaching practices (e.g., undergraduate research, service-learning, global engagement) to enhance student learning.
- Quantitative skills and expertise in data analytics.
