This position is responsible for performing procedures allowable according to Arizona State Dental Laws and assisting the dental provider in providing dental care to patients. The Dental Assistant position ensures the proper sterilization of equipment for dental provider use and providing patients information in regard to treatment, scheduling, and insurance authorization.
Essential Functions
- Assists dental provider and hygienist in the delivery of dental related services.
- Provides historical reference by accurately and efficiently recording treatment, accurately coding charges for services, preparing treatment plans on dental charts, and entering progress notes/treatment plans in patient’s file.
- Provides information to patients by relaying information, instructions, directions and/or consent, to patients, parents, or guardian, regarding treatment, at the direction of the dentists and hygienists. Instructs patients and parents in oral hygiene, and accurately communicates treatment plans and fees to patients.
- Prepares and maintains all dental trays and instruments.
- Upkeeps the sterilization/cleanliness and inventory of dental equipment.
- Responsible for the pickup, delivery, and communication regarding the status of dental case.
- Collaborates with dental back office and front office team members to ensure quality patient care.
- Follows up with patients that have received a surgical dental procedure within two (2) business days to inquire if the patient is having any complications due to the procedure.
- Travels to multiple locations as assigned which may include a location change during shift.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required.
Position Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Radiology/X-Ray certification and/or Coronal Polishing certification
- Dental Assistant certificate
- Current CPR Certification
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coronal Polishing certification. Ability to obtain upon hire within six months.
