The Town of Wellesley recognizes the need to provide outstanding maintenance and operation services in its school and town buildings through its Facilities Maintenance Department (FMD). The FMD manages twenty buildings totaling over a million square feet, with a staff of 64 and an operating budget of over $6.4 million, plus a major capital projects budget. The Town seeks outstanding candidates who are hard-working, ambitious, and committed to working in a team environment.

Reporting to the Facility Supervisor or Night Supervisor, and under the general supervision of the Principal, Custodial Service manager and Facilities Director, the Custodian performs all aspects of custodial services and operations for the department. The work of the Custodian includes but is not limited to: routine/detail/project cleaning of all aspects of the buildings, minor maintenance work, minor landscaping/grounds work, on-call services, food services/cafeteria support, building security, and emergency snow/ice response. The incumbent must be available for weekend, emergency and stand-by duties as required. The incumbent performs assigned tasks without close supervision, following established procedures, or with direct instructions on new and different assignments. Must be able to lift 50lbs.

The current opening is in the Wellesley High School. The hours are 2:30pm – 11:00pm, Tuesday through Friday and Saturdays 7:30am to 4:00pm. School vacation and summer hours vary so all staff take turns securing the building at night. The hourly rate of pay is $22.30 - $27.80.

Requires a High School diploma or GED; a valid MA Driver's license; three years of custodial or related experience; basic computer skills; and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Applicants will be required to complete a CORI form.

Interested individuals who meet these requirements should submit a resume and a cover letter to the Human Resources Department, Town Hall, 525 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA 02482 or e-mail as a Word or PDF document to hr@wellesleyma.gov or fill out a Town of Wellesley Employment Application by September 27, 2024.
