Job Summary

The Education Policy Initiative (EPI) at the University of Michigan is looking for a Research Analyst to join the research team. EPI, located at the Ford School of Public Policy, brings together nationally recognized scholars focused on the generation and dissemination of policy-relevant education research. We work in partnership with schools, districts, and state agencies to conduct rigorous, cutting-edge research that informs both policy and practice. We maintain large-scale administrative datasets from multiple government agencies while also maintaining strong research partnerships within specific research areas, such as early childhood.

You will work with the early childhood portfolio at EPI, specifically a new project to develop an implementation readiness tool for pre-k to 2nd grade classrooms. You will report to the Early Childhood Project Manager and will help coordinate the project across multiple partners. About 25% of your time will be spent supporting other EPI projects.

Responsibilities*

  • Coordinate and support the project management of a multi-partner early childhood project. Partners includes researchers, outside consultants, districts, and funders.
  • Conduct a literature review of early childhood readiness measures and published literature, including maintaining an annotated bibliography of sources.
  • Present findings from the literature review to research partners and lead discussions around gaps in the literature/existing measures.
  • Help create new measures to fill gaps in the readiness measures found in literature review.
  • Support classroom site visits, qualitative interviews with teachers, and piloting new tool in classrooms.
  • Help develop project deliverables including final reports, policy briefs, site visit summaries, and qualitative interview finding summaries.
  • Maintain timelines and project plans; meeting regularly with supervisor to determine any necessary adjustments.
  • Support the dissemination of findings at the end of the grant.
  • Support other EPI research projects on activities such as qualitative interviews, analysis, and reporting.

Required Qualifications*

  • A master's degree in a relevant social science field, data science, statistics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • 2+ years of education research experience, including project management, conducting qualitative interviews, analyzing data, or writing up findings 
  • 1+ year of experience building partnerships, working with teachers/districts, and/or working with stakeholder groups.
